Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever are non-profit organizations dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education, and land management policies and programs.
Job Description: The Video Production Specialist will work closely with the Director of Marketing and Senior Graphic Designer on the execution of video production needs. This includes in-house promotional and marketing videos, tutorial videos, and sponsored content. The position requires a well-rounded candidate who is able to take direction, juggle multiple projects, successfully track details, and adhere to deadlines. Fundamental to this role is the ability to take projects from concept/storyboarding through production and posting/dissemination. A strong portfolio illustrating this skillset is essential.
Some examples of projects include filming/editing/posting live from the Rooster Road Trip, creating in-house “Learn to Hunt” tutorial videos, retail merchandise sales videos, inspirational mission-driven videos for volunteers, and sponsored product reviews/tutorials/interviews.
As a Video Production Specialist, the individual must have a flexible, can-do attitude and willingness to accept requests from multiple departments and staff within the organization. Communication skills are very important, as the Video Production Specialist must use necessary video expertise to help co-workers conceptualize their desired projects. It is also important that the individual is exceptional at multitasking and can manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. This individual must possess an awareness and responsibility for working within budget requirements on each job. Occasionally, this position will require overnight travel to remote hunts and shoots and will also be expected to participate in special events outside of typical business hours.
The Video Production Specialist reports directly to the Director of Marketing within the organization’s Marketing Department.
Specific Responsibilities: •Shoots video and occasionally photographs for a variety of events or programs. •Use creative and technical videography skills in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor settings to successfully record video and audio which can be turned into exceptional digital video reports, documentaries and stories. •Make decisions about which tools (various camera and microphone types, accessories such as sliders and gimbals, etc.) and techniques are appropriate to use for different styles and settings of shoots to most successfully achieve the goals of the story, report, program or project. •Photographs/records properties, people, and points of interest. •Edits and logs video footage. •Use creative and technical editing skills to turn scripts and/or rough cuts into exceptional online video reports, documentaries and stories. •Assists in designing exhibits, presentations and displays. •Organizes and catalogs videos and photographs. •Brainstorms ideas and determines product plans including, but not limited to, writing, shooting, and editing high quality video productions and photographs. •Performs work by traveling independently throughout the country. •Accept directions well from a range of staff and respond professionally. •Stay current with the latest technical equipment and videography and editing techniques. Proactively seek new, efficient ways to accomplish tasks and professional development to improve skills. •Communicate effectively and professionally; handle multiple tasks and priorities; adhere to production timelines and budgets; meet all deadlines •Works with merchandise department and Senior Graphic Designer to coordinate photography/videography of merchandise. •Creates supplemental videos related to retail merchandise sales. •Assists with National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic and other special event needs – promo videos, live event videos, Facebook Live, daily recap etc. •Works with Regional Representatives, field staff, chapter volunteers and members on various video needs. •Assists Education and Outreach team with video/tutorial needs. •Helps nurture our brand image, and brainstorms new ways to create videos that will help grow our brand and inspire our members and volunteers. •Assists at PF/QF functions as requested; including Game Fair, State Fairs, sport shows, golf tourneys, etc.

Required Skills: •Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; this must include at least 2 or more years of professional videography and editing experience. •Working knowledge of Pro-Style Digital Media Camera, Sony NX5U or comparable •Working knowledge of Canon DSLR Cameras or similar •Working knowledge of core video journalism skills, including storyboarding, caption writing, spelling, and grammar •Knowledge of 360 video, Facebook live, and other video technologies •Skill in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Adobe Creative Cloud Premiere/After Effects, Photoshop •Skill in motion graphics and bumpers •Comfort working in the field/remotely with camera equipment and post-production equipment and ability to trouble-shoot in a self-directed manner when technical challenges arise •Ability to travel for extended periods of time and work in locations distant from the headquarters in St. Paul, MN. •Experience with multimedia presentations. •Experience managing and working with outside vendors, including seeking approvals, quotes and organizing delivery of assets. •Time management skills and can-do attitude with the ability to prioritize in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment. •Excellent communication skills. •Ability to maintain an optimistic perspective and respond constructively to adversity and critique. •Ability to work collaboratively with several individuals at numerous professional and experience levels. •Ability to meet deadlines and proactively seek solutions to issues as they arise. •Strong attention to detail. •Ability to work with limited supervision and self-motivated. •Drone experience a plus
Preferred Experience: •Knowledge and passion for conservation/upland hunting is a plus •Knowledge of organization and chapter structure is a plus
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or 2-4 years of equivalent work experience
Work Type: Full Time, 80 hrs per pay period Position is based at Pheasants Forever, Inc. headquarters in White Bear Lake, Minnesota (not negotiable).
Additional Salary Information: $35,000 - $45,000 Depending upon experience, plus health & retirement benefits.
