The Director of Product Management – Firearm Accessories & Engineered Products will be responsible for the performance of the firearm accessories and engineered goods division of Magpul products. This position will have oversight and responsibility for organizing and developing product ideas, development and execution of product requirements and value proposition, input to design, tracking through the design and manufacturing process, and guiding the development of marketing efforts and materials for products. This position will also be responsible for the development and briefing of the business case for various courses of action, briefing customer research, market conditions and status/activity of competing organizations/brands in relevant product categories to sales, product management and key leadership to assist in developing cohesive strategy and product direction. After release, this position will also be responsible for consumer reception of the product, revision and change proposals, and overall lifecycle management. This position will have duties across the breadth of product activities related to the product category(ies) that are assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Accountable for the performance of the Firearms Accessories and Engineered Goods product portfolio.
•Responsible for the development and refinement of the value proposition for products in the assigned category(ies).
•Responsible for development and maturation of product ideas from around the company and product requirements to support the new product development process.
•Responsible for recommendation and implementation of revision and improvement of existing products and product life cycle planning.
•Responsible for product performance and feature requirements and ensuring they meet overall brand strategy.
•Assist in the development of marketing materials and efforts for product campaigns across media (print, web, environmental, etc.).
•Continue to build and lead the Product Management staff for Firearms Accessories & Engineered goods.
•Support planning and execution of trade show activities related to division products.
•Support planning and execution of product-oriented marketing efforts such as writer’s events, content generation, photo shoots, video generation, etc.
•Work with the product management, design, and engineering teams throughout product development and lifecycle.
•Direct, conduct, and present market research on customers, overall market conditions, competitor activity, and other indicators as they relate to product development.
•Review and report on testing status and performance, and conduct/direct pre-release subjective assessments to support lab and formal product testing.
•Maintain end-user and training community contact through Magpul CORE, sales, industry relations, and other activities in support of requirements generation for the new product development process.
•Assist in military, professional, and commercial sales, when detailed presentation of products is required.
•Manage hiring and lead personnel within the division.
•Responsible for assessment and final recommendation for product release.
•Track product status through the development process. Identify any needs for action by leadership along the way.
•Manage division responses to customer concerns and issues. Ensure that correct information about product is being presented to the public.
•Track customer service cases to identify trends and opportunities for product or instructional improvements.
•Meet revenue targets for new product performance.
•Domestic travel required up to 20%.
•Other duties as assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •Ability to convey ideal or perfect usage for use in marketing materials.
•Understanding of managerial accounting for purposes of portfolio performance evaluation.
•Ability to understand customer base and formulate value propositions that appeal to a broad base of end users.
•Proficient in MS Office Suite.
•Ability to generate and brief reports on areas of responsibility to leadership.
•Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-starter, entrepreneurial environment.
•Ability to assimilate, understand, and convey the Magpul brand image.
•Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
•Knowledge of the firearms and firearms accessory industries/industry experience desired, regardless of assigned product category.
•Ability to research, collect, and present relevant product and industry information to support a business case or product recommendation.
•This position reports to the Executive Vice President.
