Job Summary: We are seeking a highly energetic and experienced National Sales Director to help define, establish and execute strategic sales initiatives to effectively achieve business growth and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Create and implement effective direct sales strategies and lead nationwide direct sales personnel toward achievement of corporate sales objectives. 2.Develop competencies and processes required to create an effective and efficient sales organization. 3.Provide leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and development while comparing sales results to goals and taking appropriate action to correct when necessary. 4.Provide sales management, budget control, compensation programs and incentive planning. 5.Ensure effective hiring, orientation, training, development and retention of sales staff. 6.Provide supervision through field visits, observations and measurement of results to include performance appraisals and salary reviews. 7.Proactively identify changes in the outdoor optics industry, delivery systems, and competitive pressures to develop and modify strategies and tactics accordingly. 8.Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts. 9.Manage to meet/exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts. 10.Partner with Account Managers – Corporate and Strategic Accounts in the development of key customer relationship management. 11.Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities. 12.Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies. 13.Attend industry meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate.
Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, business management, marketing, entrepreneurship, sciences or related field and 5-10 years of 2A industry sales experience (Optics specific experience desired) with at least 5 years of experience managing a direct sales team.
Required Skills: 1.Experience and success in recruiting, retaining and managing a high-performing and diverse sales team. 2.Demonstrated ability to achieve sales plans/quotas. 3.Strategy development, project management, problem solving, and change management skills. 4.Experience and proven understanding of optics, shooting and the 2A industry. 5.Exceptional negotiation and sales skills. 6.Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally. 7.Ability to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of client management including CFO, CIO, CEO, CMO, etc. 8.Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills. 9.Business related computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. 10.Strong organizational and management skills including self-motivation and problem solving techniques.
Preferred Skills: 1.Extensive experience and understanding of the outdoor/shooting/2A community including trends, technologies, products and mainstay brands. 2.A existing network of contacts within the 2A industry that include: sales reps, manufacturing reps, buying groups, key accounts and distributions networks.
Travel Requirements: 1.Ability to travel as required, estimated to be 30% or more national and international.
