Mechanical Engineer wanted for fast growing less lethal firearms and ammunition manufacturer located in the greater Chicago area. Must have relevant background in the design, reverse engineering, and manufacturing of firearms and / or ammunition. The ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously is a key plus. Additional desired skills include: •Proficient in 3D solid modeling, Solidworks preferred. •Understanding of advanced pneumatic and hydraulic principles. •Knowledge of manufacturing processes including castings, forgings, injection molding and machining. •Ability to create prototypes using standard shop equipment such milling machines and lathes. •Perform work independently, including research and development of new products as well as troubleshooting and problem solving of existing products. •Create detailed testing plans for others to perform to assure durability and functionality of products and be able to interpret testing results for estimating real world performance. •Capable of detailing drawings including geometric tolerance, with a thorough understanding of tight and small tolerance components and their relationship to each other. •Experience with ballistics and aerodynamic principles on projectiles. •Capable of staying on tight schedules and working with project managers and test engineers to ensure project goals and criteria are being met. •Possess an overall enthusiasm for firearms and ballistics. •Be able to use your past industry experience to help guide and mentor entry level engineer staff.
