The Electrical Engineer III will innovate, design, develop and troubleshoot complex electrical devices and systems for sporting and targeting optics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES • Develops circuit designs, both analog and digital, consistent with customer requirements and product specifications • Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic circuitry, subsystems, or other hardware elements of electro-optic sighting devices • Performs detailed circuit analysis and simulation • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs • Designs digital and analog hardware for embedded systems • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and making recommendations • Drives customer orientation as a business philosophy to ensure the customer’s wants and needs are the priority of all management and employees • Cultivates a culture that assures effective cross functional team work • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values • Performs job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Creates Printed Circuit Board layouts (PCB) utilizing the design from a functional diagram or schematic • Develops electrical systems for production fixtures • Validates designs through various methods of review, testing and analysis • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products • Identifies, tracks and provides status on technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with customer requirements and product specifications • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested • Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators • Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities • Demonstrated proficiency with electromagnetic compatibility • Demonstrated proficiency with U.S. and E.U. electro-optic regulations • Demonstrated proficiency with new technologies and trends in electro-optic technology • Demonstrated proficiency with weapon optics products and understanding of the design, development and transition to production requirements in both commercial and military markets • Demonstrated proficiency with weapons, types, calibers, and accessories on those systems that drive optical performance and interoperability requirements of the optical device systems when integrated to a weapon • Reads, analyzes and interprets scientific and technical journals; responds to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers; effectively presents information to management • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form • All other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from four-year college or university • 4-6 years’ experience in a product development environment; manufacturing experience preferred • Experience with electrical design and assembly, including 3D CAD (Solidworks, Pro/E, Catia, etc.)
