The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer III (SQE) is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with product specifications and customer requirements. They are in charge of performing regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, as well as actively participating in strategic development based on quality control plans. They manage the supply chain, serve as the liaison for suppliers, suggest structural quality and process improvements, and collaborate with other engineers in a team environment.
• Develops positive relationships with suppliers through effective communication, partnership, training and regular site visits. • Promotes the use of Quality tools and continuous improvement techniques at suppliers to reduce variability, achieve process control and improve the overall quality of processes and systems. • Trains suppliers to effectively execute Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR), Quality Alerts, Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA) implementation, change control and root cause analysis • Facilitates supplier corrective action plans (example - 8D’s, control plans, FMEA’s, process flow diagrams, etc.) following documented procedures. • Performs periodic audits and evaluate Supplier Quality Systems/processes and flow down of Customer requirements to assure conformance to requirements. • Collects and evaluates supplier quality data and performance metrics. • Facilitates and maintains effective communications with and between Purchasing, Quality Assurance department and the supplier. • Assists suppliers in qualifying and introducing new components, materials and sub-assemblies. • Leads efforts to develop a materials compliance program (ie. delivery of chemicals, adhesives). • Identifies improvement projects and manage cross functional implementation to improve supplier performance. • Consults and directs suppliers regarding first article submission/inspection process • Provides guidance, instruction and training to Quality Assurance Engineer I and II • Uses established procedures and works under minimum supervision, conferring with Quality Assurance Director on unusual manners. • Provide input to supplier quality ratings and submit ratings to L-3 Corporate Quality Team. • Support all L-3 Corporation SQA objectives and requirements of division. • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values. • Perform job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures. • Up to 50% travel • All other duties as assigned.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or related field • Minimum of 4-6 years quality focused supply chain experience • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
