The Product Manager - Optics is based at our headquarters in Orofino, ID and serves as a driving force in managing the direction, market presence and lifecycle of Nightforce Optics’ products, focusing primarily on optics and projects. The position assesses needs in the market, prepares proposals, plans, launches, sustains and sunsets the assigned products, while working closely with other team members in Sales, Marketing, and Engineering.
Job Responsibilities • Manages Nightforce’s optics product lines including premium, mid-range and entry level products, across several market segments, with some responsibility for accessories • Analyzes the product life cycle of product families and individual SKUs, and makes recommendations accordingly • Understands multiple categories of the company’s business: hunting, competition, shooting, as well as regional preferences outside of the US • Listens objectively while gathering information to pinpoint consumer and market needs. Formulates plans accordingly. • Develops profitable product costing working with Engineering, Materials and Production • Works with Sales to develop strategic market pricing and demand probabilities • Works in conjunction with all concerned groups in prioritizing product development projects in order to drive the most impact for the company • Manages product development and launch timelines; develops launch-to-market plans; provides accurate information to Marketing and Sales for proper launch-to-market strategies • Provides, maintains and monitors project schedules and reports status on a regular basis • Works extensively with the Strategic Marketing Manager to contribute in development of 24-month and 36-month product road map plan and overall product SKU matrix, as well as future category planning • Researches current and future market trends and needs
Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience • Minimum five years’ experience in a similar position required. Extensive knowledge of the outdoor industry, both domestic and international, preferred • Four year college degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, or similar preferred • Strategic thinking, problem analysis, and problem solving skills required • Ability to work well in a team environment and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment • Experience in working with government and military organizations preferred • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills required • Experience with shooting and hunting preferred. Experience in the Sport Optics industry preferred • Strong project management skills required • High energy level and resilient character, with outstanding interpersonal skills • Strong time management and organizational skills • Superior customer service mentality • High integrity in all business dealings • Ability to travel 50%-60% of the time • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
