Work with leadership team to define growth goals and brand goals and then the merchandising strategy and budget required to drive those goals
Create and drive the merchandise strategy, from growing our current business in hand guns, long guns, and ammunition to defining and leading the expansion of the width into existing and future categories (accessories, trap and skeet, hunting, training and more)
Define assortment architecture (caliber, models, brands to add/drop, when, etc.) based on data (customer feedback, historical selling data, etc.) and influence brand direction through shaping product direction. Both in store and online.
Support and develop relationships with distributors and manufacturers, set and approve cost targets for merchandise. Negotiate prices and delivery.
Inventory planning (including but not limited to)
Create inventory plan and budget needs based on sales targets
Define and oversee purchase order and product delivery calendar with marketing and event team to properly time inflow of inventory
Dynamically manage inventory levels to ensure we’re always in stock and selling through at the right rate (and defining what sell through should be)
Create and own performance analysis – define, measure and analyze key business metrics to manage assortment and inventory levels to achieve (and exceed) sales targets and inventory turns
Dynamic business management - identify sales growth opportunities based on assortment holes as well as liabilities that need to be managed and regularly iterate on strategy/plan accordingly
Heavy cross functional leadership (including but not limited to)
Oversee buyers and others
Work closely with marketing team on product timeline and associated marketing support, including in-store events, etc.
Work closely with store team – define assortment for Shoot Point Blank stores, product knowledge and training in stores, etc.
Oversee dissemination of product information to sales trainers, store leaders and district leaders to ensure they are well versed in the FABs as well as product/delivery timelines, etc
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Possess the following core values:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field of study.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in inventory management.
Strong analytical skills with sound business and financial acumen.
Strong execution skills with the ability to produce results within expected timeframe and on budget.
Strong understanding of the customer demographics.
Interpret results into strategic advantages and opportunities.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of customer service sales experience preferably within a specialty retail environment.
Ability to understand, recall and follow complex compliance regulations and the ability to work with highly confidential information.
Availability to work a flexible schedule and hours necessary to open and/or close the store including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be 21 years of age.
