This is an Adjunct Faculty Position to provide instruction and facilitation in online courses for the following subjects: General Functions and Repairs, Ballistics, Customizing, Accessories, and Woodworking; and Manufacturing.
This position requires extensive experience in the repair, customization, or manufacturing of firearms, as well as a passion for educating others. The ability to communicate that knowledge and passion effectively in an asynchronous learning model is an absolute must. SDI instructors must be able to support, motivate, and engage students in a distance learning environment and aid them in becoming self-disciplined learners and effective time managers.
Duties of this position include…
Maintain assigned teaching load in accordance to contract requirements and responsibilities.
Provide academic interaction with students on a weekly basis through posted instructor guidance, threaded discussion, and assignment feedback.
Provide student support via email, system messaging within LMS, threaded discussion, and phone (as needed).
Grade and post student work while providing constructive and detailed feedback to help students achieve academic and career success.
Maintain effective and efficient record keeping.
Foster a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.
Serve as consultant on the development of curricular materials as needed.
Bachelor’s degree (unofficial transcripts must be provided for review).
(Candidates with an associate degree and a minimum of 4-years documented professional experience may be considered).
Minimum two-years documented professional experience in gunsmithing or firearms repair.
Preference will be given to candidates with armorer’s certifications and/or credentials from an accredited gunsmithing program.
