AllTerra Arms, LLC located in Boise, Idaho, is searching for a full-time Gunsmith to join our team and provide top-notch service to our customers. We are looking for an experienced gunsmith to fill a full-time position with full benefits. Training support is also available as we are looking for someone who strives to continually improve themselves and seek new knowledge and skills. The overriding responsibility of a gunsmith is to ensure that the firearms he or she is working on operate safely and according to specifications. No matter what specific process they are engaged in at the moment, gunsmiths must observe safe gun-handling procedures and ensure that customers, assistants and coworkers do the same. All of the mechanisms of the guns must be inspected for safety, and any deficiencies must be fixed before the job can commence or continue. These responsibilities can only be achieved with great attention to detail and commitment to building the best rifles on the planet.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Basic use of measuring devices such as micrometers and dial calipers
Install parts such as pins, triggers, ejectors, extractors, recoil pads
Indicate and machine barrels, in both CNC and manual lathes
Install and time muzzle brakes
Fit and pillar bed rifle stocks to a barreled action
Test fire firearms for function, accuracy and safety
Manufacture and reload ammunition
Operate various machines to grind and polish metal parts
Operate power and hand tools to assemble and/or repair firearms
Provide support to QC, R&D, and management on technical issues
Properly utilize machines tools and personal protective equipment
Operate CNC equipment.
Function-check and test-fire weapons after manufacturing/maintenance/repairs
Daily policing of work area to reduce hazards
Document testing, processes, safety checks, etc.
Follow all OSHA and EPA safety rules
Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal person would also have several years of competitive target shooting experience or be able to shoot sub ¼” MOA groups consistently.
Preferred Education: Attendance at a formal 1-2 year accredited in-house gunsmithing program, with proof of completion.
