The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for all aspects of the operations of a technology-based manufacturing and assembly operation as the key quarterback for the team including customer service, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Shipping and Receiving. This individual will be part of the Sierra Executive Leadership Team helping not only run the operations; they will also be heavily involved in the overall strategic direction of the company as part of the Senior Leadership Team. This position must ensure operations can design, build and ship high-quality commercial, military and law enforcement bullets and ammunition in an aggressive, growth-orientated environment while maintaining profitability while always focused on meeting customer requirements. Key requirement for this role is a high-energy leader that can capture the hearts and minds of our business partners and create a “lean” environment to grow the organization.
Establish, meet, and report upon key metrics and goals. These include standard KPI’s tied to Safety, Quality, Deliveries, Costs, and Competitiveness.
The new VP of Manufacturing will identify and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline operations and use of resources and materials. This is a key requirement that the new VP needs to have experience in a “start-up” environment with the capabilities to set up these processes and be the lead “change-agent” for the organization.
Lead, manage, and direct the Manufacturing and Materials departments of Sierra.
Support departmental compliance with ITAR, FCPA, EAR and other regulatory requirements at each step of the design and manufacturing processes
Develop and implement a lean manufacturing strategy to improve operational results that not only improve the material flow for our product lines, yet also improves the quality, deliveries, and efficiency for the operations.
The new VP of Operations will implement and communicate operations related policies, practices, standards and security measures.
Manages employee performance setting clear goals and accountabilities assisting employees in making improvements in their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews.
Prepare and control the budget with aggressive management of operational expenses including labor hours, equipment, supplies and facility costs.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a high-pressure environment.
Five to Ten plus years of demonstrable, successful results leading a similar organization, preferably in a start up situation that has demonstrable results.
Solid experience setting up a lean environment implementing new business practices to streamline the organization to drive results with a solid customer focus driving all improvements.
A CLEAR communicator who not only leads their team yet can teach and drive results.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required, Master of Business Administration or equivalent is preferred
Experience leading and managing manufacturing staff in a fast-paced environment
Experience working with bullets and ammunition is a plus, yet not a final requirement.
Experience developing and achieving high-level strategic goals and objectives
Experience with implementing and maintaining a lean manufacturing strategy – this is a key requirement.
Experience with problem-solving and managing multiple priorities
This position currently has 3 direct reports with a manufacturing team lead, QC/Regulations, and Packaging along with direct labor reports on each shift. The operations currently is running 3 shifts with plans for growth.
This position works in a clean manufacturing environment with three shifts running at this point. There is some Saturday work requirements due to customer requirements, yet goal is to eliminate through efficiency gains.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM or as needed for production needs
