Position is responsible for the development and general support of retail safety, operations and experience within the firearms department. This includes, but is not limited to firearm safety, firearm policies and procedures, applicable forms associated with new and used firearm transactions, and the overall experience within the firearms department. Position will develop process improvement strategies to support growth within the firearms business, and develop enhancements to address industry trends, and maintain competitive advantages. Role will work closely with the Firearm Compliance Team to ensure policies match laws and compliance requirements, and with the Training Team to ensure proper training standards. Role will be a key liaison with other business partners regarding firearm safety, operations, and experience including Retail, Asset Protection, Human Resources, and other departments as needed.
Operations – Responsible for the operations surrounding the firearms business. Responsible for writing, and maintaining related firearm standard operating procedures. Responsible for reviewing and implementing processes to drive efficiencies in the firearm gun vaults, and all back of house firearm processes, and services. Includes general management of all policies, forms, labels, signage, record retention, monthly audits from stores, and other firearm related products. Responsible for developing roles and responsibilities for Outfitters within the firearms department.
Experience – Responsible for handling the customer experience within the firearms department. This includes, firearm sales training skills, concierge services, checkout process, firearms services, experience enhancements, driving attachments sales with firearms, and all customer facing aspects of the firearms business. Responsible for developing and releasing communication plans to support key tab drops, and initiatives.
Safety – Responsible for firearm safety in retail stores and ranges. Position will be responsible for developing, and implementing firearm safety policies and procedures, and applicable training surrounding the safety of firearms within each location. This includes the customer facing firearm check in process at each retail store, and the gun vault (back of house) safety and firearm clearing process for all firearms coming into the store.
Used Firearms Online – Responsible for support of the online firearm business for used firearms. This includes support of the retail stores Internet Content Provider for used firearms being posted to the company website through applicable equipment, training, standard operating procedure, and general support. Responsible for maintaining partnerships with the merchandising and internet teams to support the online business.
Compliance – Role will be responsible for working closely with the Firearm Compliance Team to ensure compliance with federal and state, local laws. This includes policy and internal form development, communication, and training. Responsible for partnering with Firearm Compliance Team to ensure integrity of the ATF required A&D Book.
Training – Responsible for training development related to firearms safety, operations, and experience. This will include development, and communication in partnership with the Training Department at Basecamp.
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Experience: 4-6 years in related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Previous retail experience preferred
Working knowledge of firearms retail processes
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Position will be required to travel to retail locations to educate, and continuously improve safety, processes and experience related to the firearms business up to 25% of the time.
