Overview
- Base Salary: $55,000 - 70,000
- Title: Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant
- Reports to: VP, Sales & Implementation
- Bonus Structure: Incentive compensation tied to Account Management. Available after 90 days
- Location: Remote (travel) with 10 - 15% travel
- PTO / PST: Paid Time Off (PTO) - Three weeks of PTO (“vacation”) plus holidays
- Other: Company computer provided and up to $30 / mo phone service expense

Job Responsibilities
The Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant is responsible for planning and implementing cloud-based retail applications for firearm dealers.
The core of the Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant’s responsibilities relate to four-levels of the department’s function: (a) Managing his or her own implementations; (b) Executing his / her own implementations; and (c) Functioning in an account management capacity after the go-live. The following are the detailed responsibilities of the role.
Assisting with Department-level Coordination
Under the direction of the VP, the Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant will assist in broader department level coordination. Such tasks include:
- Understanding customer desired go-live dates.
- Determining the ‘most likely’ go-live time in light of the broader schedule.
- Adding implementation activities to the company project planning software.
Managing His / Her Own Implementations
The Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant will be responsible for managing his / her own implementations from planning through go-live. Such tasks include:
- Determining the type of implementation (remote, on-site, hybrid).
- Coordinating with Orchid’s regulatory and legal functions for needed support.
- Understand the customer’s unique needs including regulatory requirements.
- Documenting and creating a plan for the conversion of regulated and non-regulated data.
- Coordinating initial catalogue loads, distributor integrations and third party integrations.
- Assessing hardware needs and working with the client to acquire such hardware.
- Facilitating the submission of merchant services application.
- Facilitating the purchase and setup of credit card swipe devices.
- Understanding their broader eCommerce needs and soliciting the initial design intent.
Implementation Execution
- Configure the software application(s).
- Analyze and cleanse, where permissible and load customer related data.
- Implement part master, customer master and vendor master data.
- Schedule and deliver software and business process training.
- Performing test transactions to ensure that applications are working properly.
- Train users on the use of Orchid’s software applications, hardware, and new business processes.
- Provide go-live and post-go-live assistance. Resolve any issues in a timely manner; identify urgent situations and ensure a proper escalation process.
Account Management
- Maintining contact with the client and serving as their advocate for future growth.
- Educate customers on the Orchid white-glove support and live, online support portal.
- Fielding technical or business questions submitted through the portal.
Note, the Retail FFL Software Implementation Consultant will be receive incentive compensation for during or after implementation upgrades for service delivery hours and add-on applications.
Job Qualifications
Experience
- 3 – 5+ years of experience
- Firearms / Shooting Sports Industry experience preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with a deep attention to detail
- Very strong written skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to maintain control of critical and difficult customer situations
Technical / Software Qualifications
- Intermediate or higher experience with Excel. The candidate must be comfortable working with large data sets.
