The Gun Room Assistant Manager at Kittle's Outdoor performs a broad range of professional retail firearms sales and service. In cooperation with the store's owners, and the Gun Room Manager, the Assistant Manager assures adequate personnel is scheduled to maintain high level customer service needed for specialized firearms & ammunition sales and transactions. The Assistant Manager is responsible for delegating certain duties to co-workers and following through in order to maintain a clean, profitable, and efficient gun department.
In cooperation with the Manager the Assistant is responsible for and performs duties:
- BATF and CA DOJ compliant firearm & ammunition sales and transfers,
- Receiving and recording firearms acquisitions/dispositions,
- Sales and Service in the Gun Room
- Ordering accessories & other inventory for the store's stock and special requests,
- Associated skills that prove to be important are: proficient use of the internet, point of sale, ammo web site and gun log software (specifically the use of DOJ, ATF, manufacturer's and distributor's websites), consistent & accurate documentation on the Federal Form 4473 (Kittle's uses Fastbound software), CA Form Dealer Record of Sale, Daily filing of such documents, inventory control and quarterly audits, providing a clean and organized sales area, follow-up on customer orders, the ability to research answers to CA and Federal Gun Laws, delegate certain daily tasks to co-workers and creating a customer friendly atmosphere.

The atmosphere is down home, personable, where the customers are welcomed at the door and develop a long lasting relationship with us. Kittle's is fortunate to have a Gun Smith, Field and Range Solutions, in the building. The owner is very helpful to the Gun Room and it's customers.
The position requires one year of general experience. General Experience is that which requires:
- retail sales in an entry level,
- merchandising several product lines,
- merchandising end cap displays,
- taking an annual inventory,
- delegating duties to at least 1 other employee,
- balancing cash boxes,
- organizing product promotions,
- ordering inventory for seasonal and daily sales,
- shipping and receiving via UPS and FED EX.
- Because we are a firearms and ammunition dealer this experience would also demonstrate competence in the firearms, the basic rules of firearm safety, and the ability to communicate all of this with the public and co-workers. The work requires knowledge of merchandising a firearms, ammunition and tackle retail store. This knowledge is ultimately needed to assist customers while maintaining a profit and being competitive. A California Certificate of Eligibility is required. Kittle's will pay for the initial and annual fees.
