Kittle's Outdoor is looking for an energetic, organized, forward thinking individual to join our team with the potential to excel into upper management.
PRE REQUISITES: The Department Manager is required to oversee all aspects related to sales and service of his or her designated department(s) and its customers. A major component is to successfully coordinate the inventory so that the department(s) are prepared for serving our customer’s needs. The position requires three years of general experience.General Experience is that which requires retail sales in an entry level, merchandising several product lines, merchandising end cap displays, taking an annual inventory, delegating duties to at least 1 other employee, balancing cash boxes, organizing product promotions, ordering inventory for seasonal and daily sales, shipping and receiving via UPS and Fed Ex. Because we are a firearms dealer this experience would also demonstrate competence in firearms, the basic rules of firearm safety, and the ability to communicate all of this with the public and co-workers. The work requires knowledge of merchandising a firearms and tackle retail store. This knowledge is ultimately needed to assist customers while maintaining a profit and being competitive.
BASE DESCRIPTION: The Department Manager performs a broad range of professional retail duties. The Department Manager works under the direction of the Sales Floor Manager and the store’s owners to assure that qualified professional persons are available to assist and to maintain a high level of customer service in this specialized retail environment.
The Department Manager performs duties associated with most aspects of the store’s daily sales operations. The firearms aspect of the business is very important and very specialized. Therefore the Department Manager must be just as familiar with the BATF & CA DOJ compliant firearm sales and transfers, receiving and recording firearms as the Gun Department Manager. Other skills that prove to be important are: proficient use of the internet, point of sale & gun log software (specifically the use of DOJ, manufacturer's and distributor’s web sites), customer relations/troubleshooting, weekly and annual inventory control (i.e. shipping and receiving), running administrative reports specific to the assigned departments and daily filing of such documents.
There is a potential to grow into an upper-level manager. (i.e. Sales Floor Manager or Store Manager).
Must pass a CA DOJ background check.
Must acquire a CA Certificate of Eligibility to sell firearms and ammunition.
