Welcome to MJ Gunsmithing. We are seeking a well qualified individual to lead our gunsmithing department. Matt opened MJ Gunsmithing shop in 2015 shortly after graduating from Colorado School of Trades. Like many small businesses, our beginnings were humble and while we started with a small shop (2500 sq feet) we built our reputation on outstanding customer service, the highest quality work and exceeding the expectations of our customers. As a result, we have consistently grown our shop and revenues year over year and are proud to now have a gun store and shop that is over 6,000 sq/feet! Our customers range from nationally ranked competitive shooters to brand new shooters and everything in between. The “Lead Gunsmith” is a critical role to our business, so we are searching for a motivated, intellectually curious, hard working, problem solver that is also ready to step up and be a leader in our rapidly growing business. You will be responsible for directing employees, maintaining exemplary records, interacting with customers, etc. We have a full shop including a lathe, mill, dirty room, blasting cabinets, an in-house test fire, a DCOA station, cerakoting room (ovens & vented spray booth)and all the tools you need to complete your tasks.

The area where the shop is located is far enough from the city that you get that country feel but close enough to still have all the stores around. There are plenty of lakes, parks, shooting clubs and so much more to do. We are also blessed with being so close to some big names in the firearms industries such as Krieger Barrels, Bartlein Barrels, BCM, Midwest Industries, ADM MFG and so many more.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide gunsmith services including, installing and adjusting sights, trigger jobs, cleaning, muzzle breaks, cerakote application, test firing, cleanings, and basic to major diagnosis and repairs of all firearms
- Maintains a service schedule to ensure minimal downtime
- Answers email and voicemail inquiries regarding services
- Assists customers with questions regarding services available, pricing, etc
- Ability to safely handle all firearms when checking into or out of gunsmithing as well as test firing
- Utilize electronic BoundBook to properly acquire and dispose of firearms
- Tracks firearms waiting for service, in queue for service, and ready for check out
- Ensures all services and parts are priced appropriately
- Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to operate all department equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Thorough knowledge of the facilities Security policy and procedures
- Stay current on product knowledge, general firearms laws and safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- When needed assist customers on sales floor
- Technical/mechanical certification or gunsmithing degree preferred
- Ability to use the necessary tools required to complete specific jobs
- Great Customer Service, communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and eye for perfection in work
- Ability to learn skills and techniques
- Must be able to multitask and not sacrifice quality
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others
