Role and Responsibilities
The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the design and development of new products, Injection molded tool design, vacuum forming tooling, implements and refines product development, product testing and manufacturing processes for MFT rifle magazines, firearm accessories, rifle stocks and handgun holsters.
The Product Engineering Manager will be accountable for the development of manufacturing capabilities and for ensuring proper manufacturing processing to obtain maximum productivity and quality. The Product Engineering Manager will work closely with our Engineering Manager, corporate leadership stakeholders, outside vendors, mold builders, QA, production leaders, engineers, R&D technicians, and sales managers to meet MFT Corporate goals.
JOB DUTIES
Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering department
Manage future engineers under the supervision of the Product Engineering Manager
Provides regular communication with project teams on scope and schedule changes
Supervises personnel assigned to the project
Ensures all design contractual requirements are satisfied
Developing detailed plans for new designs and products
Leading research and development projects that produce new designs, products and processes
Design new products and accessories for MFT product portfolio
Design Injection molded parts and components for moldability
Perform product field testing for design validation
Attend trade shows, symposiums and conduct product demos to professional end users
Produce product technical CAD drawings, BOM’s, and assembly drawings
Design and print, 3D printed prototype parts
Design form tooling, cooling fixtures, and assembly fixtures using Solid Works
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
7+ years working with SOLIDWORKS CAD program
7+ years of new product development and product design
Experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, printing tools and parts for design validation
Experience with Injection Molding plastic part design
Experience with Injection Molding tool design
Engineering processes, data base management and BOM creation
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Preferred Skills
Must be comfortable working around and with firearms
Management Skills
CNC operations, 3D modeling, rapid prototyping and product testing
SOLIDWORKS software
Knowledge of typical office programs like Microsoft Office and Adobe
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing
Possess excellent verbal and written communication
Problem Solving / must be able to identify and issue and resolve quickly
Inventive nature / have aptitude to think and create innovative products
EDUCATIONREQUIRMENTS
Candidate must have a S/M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Degree
7 years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to 5 years as an independent lead designer and culminating with at least 3 years successfully performing design management
