Responsible for all accounting operations of NSSF, SAAMI and Project ChildSafe.  Assist the Vice President & CFO in supervising, directing, and managing the work of the accounting department.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and assist with all aspects of accounting and reporting related to all organizations.
• Assist in the analysis, review, recommendation and implementation of financial software packages as needed.
• Prepare, review and maintain budgets for all companies on an on-going basis.  Work directly with staff members on the budgeting process.
• Prepare financial statements and reports as needed.
• Oversee and back-up payroll processing.  Reconcile all payroll accounts each payroll cycle.
• Oversee and assist accounting staff in preparation of annual 1099s.
• Oversee and assist accounting staff with quarterly membership dues billing, collections, record keeping, and reporting.
• Direct all banking activities.  Assure accuracy and up-to date bank accounts and records.
• Reconcile bank and investment accounts monthly.

• Assist with Federal Grants record keeping, request of funds, quarterly reports.
• Provide training and guidance for the accounting staff.
• Assist in developing and delivering learning opportunities to staff on accounting and budgeting software.

• Coordinate and assist independent audit firm with audits including final review of audited financial reports.
• Work closely with auditing firm and NSSF legal department in the preparation of 990’s.
• Work to improve the effectiveness and efficiencies of the department operations.
• Work with supervisor on updating and developing accounting policies and procedures.
• Must keep updated and informed on a continuous basis regarding changes in IRS rules regarding payroll, taxes, etc.
